Exterior Painting In Colorado Springs

Professional Preparation. Durable Exterior Finishes. A Home That Looks Its Best for Years.
At Gateway Painting, we understand that a quality exterior paint job is about much more than applying a new color.
Colorado homes are exposed to intense sun, temperature swings, snow, wind, moisture, and other conditions that can cause coatings and exterior materials to deteriorate over time. That's why we begin every exterior project with a thorough inspection and detailed assessment of the home's existing surfaces.
Our goal is simple: prepare the surfaces properly, use the right products, apply them correctly, and leave you with an exterior we're proud to stand behind.
A Better Exterior Painting Experience
Before we begin painting, we take the time to understand your home's condition and identify potential problems that could affect the finished result.
During the estimate, we'll discuss the scope of work, surface preparation, repairs, coatings, colors, and other project requirements so you know what to expect before work begins.
Every home is different. The appropriate preparation and painting process depends on the condition and materials of your home's exterior.
What to Expect: Our Exterior Painting Process
1. Thorough Inspection & Detailed Estimate
We begin by inspecting the exterior of your home and identifying areas that may require additional preparation or repair.
We'll discuss our findings with you and provide a detailed estimate so you understand the recommended scope before work begins.
2. Power Washing & Cleaning
Clean surfaces are essential for proper paint adhesion.
We clean applicable painted surfaces to remove dirt, dust, mildew, mold, chalking, and other contaminants. Depending on the project, we may also clean porches, walkways, and other areas affected by the work.
3. Carpentry Repairs & Surface Repairs
Exterior painting often reveals conditions that need attention before paint can be applied.
Damaged or deteriorated wood is repaired or replaced when appropriate. If additional issues are discovered during preparation, we'll communicate them with you and discuss the available options before proceeding.
4. Scraping, Sanding, Priming & Caulking
Preparation is one of the most important parts of an exterior painting project.
We remove loose and failing paint, sand surfaces where necessary, secure loose materials, prime exposed substrates, and caulk appropriate seams and joints.
The goal is to create a properly prepared surface that allows the coating system to perform as intended.
5. Masking & Property Protection
We take care to protect the areas surrounding your home before painting begins.
Depending on the project, this may include windows, brick, roofing, landscaping, vehicles, light fixtures, pools, hardscape, and other surfaces that need protection from paint or overspray.
6. Professional Paint Application
Paint is applied using the appropriate combination of brushing, rolling, and spraying based on the surface, coating, and project requirements.
We use professional-grade products from established manufacturers including Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Fine Paints of Europe.
The appropriate product and application method are selected based on the specific requirements of your project.
7. Window Cleaning & Detail Work
After painting is complete and masking materials are removed, applicable windows are cleaned to remove paint residue and leave the finished project looking its best.
8. Daily & Final Cleanup
We maintain an organized work area throughout the project and clean up at the end of each workday.
Once the project is complete, debris and job-related materials are removed and the surrounding areas are left clean and orderly.
9. Final Walkthrough & Inspection
We don't consider the project finished simply because the paint has been applied.
We conduct a detailed walkthrough with you to review the completed work, identify appropriate touch-ups, and make sure the project has been completed according to the agreed-upon scope.
Why Exterior Preparation Matters
A beautiful exterior finish starts with what's underneath it.
Paint applied over loose, contaminated, poorly prepared, or deteriorating surfaces can fail prematurely. That's why we place significant emphasis on cleaning, scraping, sanding, repairs, priming, and caulking before applying the finish coats.
Our objective isn't simply to make your home look good on completion day.
We want the coating system to perform properly long after we leave.
Quality Products for Exterior Projects
We believe professional results require quality products as well as proper preparation and application.
Depending on the project and substrate, we work with established manufacturers including:
Sherwin Williams • Benjamin Moore • Fine Paints of Europe
We'll help determine the appropriate coating system based on the home's surfaces, condition, desired appearance, and project requirements.
No Subcontractors. Direct Accountability.
Gateway Painting performs its painting work with our own team rather than subcontracting your project to another painting company.
That means you have a direct relationship with Gateway Painting from the initial estimate through the final walkthrough.
We believe that accountability matters.
A 10-Year Written Exterior Painting Warranty
We stand behind our exterior painting work with a 10-year written warranty.
The warranty provides additional peace of mind that Gateway Painting is committed to the work we perform—not simply the day we finish the project.
Warranty terms and coverage are provided with your project documentation.
